A pedestrian was struck on Monday morning but the vehicle failed to stop.
Police are searching for the driver responsible for an alleged hit-and-run in Whanganui.
A police media spokesperson said police were alerted to the incident at 10.40am on Jones St on Monday.
“A vehicle is reported to have driven onto the footpath and struck a pedestrian. The vehicle did not stop.”

Stuff understands the incident occurred near Whanganui Girls’ College and the victim was a young child.
Police were continuing to make inquiries.
