Mystery as body of woman discovered in alleyway yards from Spurs stadium

A WOMAN’S body was found in an alleyway yards from Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium after residents heard screams in the night.

She was discovered “unresponsive” in Grange Road in the shadow of the footie ground at 1pm on Sunday.

She was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, which is a long alleyway stretching behind homes and warehouses in North London.

Neighbours said they heard screams of a woman in the early hours of the morning and began filming.

One told the Evening Standard: “We heard screaming in the early morning it sounded like a man and woman arguing very loudly.

“I thought it was a husband and wife arguing so I tried to ignore them.”

They said they stopped filming when the row ended but it started up again.

Another neighbour saw the woman’s body being pulled out on a stretcher at about 10pm on Sunday.

A Met spokeswoman said the death is being treated as “unexpected” and the force had launched an investigation.

She added: “Police were called to Grange Road, N17 following reports of an unresponsive woman at the location.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish her identity and next of kin.

“The death is currently being treated at unexpected and is under investigation.

“No arrests, enquiries continue.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 1.10pm yesterday (2 April) to reports of an incident near Grange Road, Tottenham.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a medic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and a clinical team manager.

“Sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”
