Just like gender reveal parties and baby showers, maternity shoots are a common celebration when it comes to expecting – and celebrities are no exception.
A number of stars have bared their bumps for some glitzy maternity shots over the years, from Rihanna for her Vogue maternity cover to Beyoncé in THAT floral fantasy.
Vikings star Alexander Ludwig’s wife, Lauren Ludwig, went lowkey with some maternity photos, stripping down and photographing the side profile of her pregnant body on polaroid film.
The Hunger Games actor Alexander, 30, decided to take part in the shoot in his own way – by striking a pose just like his partner.
The star bared all as he took a similar side profile picture, writing ’32 weeks’ at the bottom of the photo just like Lauren had.
He cheekily captioned the post: ‘It’s been a long road- there’s times I don’t know how to deal with these emotions- so grateful to have my rock solid wife supporting me through these 32 weeks of pregnancy. Almost there.’
He ended the post ‘also, that’s my hand’ referencing the placement of it which looks like it could be, uh, something else.
A number of his pals from the world of acting were quick to giggle at the photos, with The Boys actor Toni Starr pointing out Alexander’s unusual hand placement in the snap.
‘Oh thank god it’s a hand! I thought you had something growing out of your tummy!’ he said with a laughing emoji.
The couple, who got married in 2020, announced last month that they are expecting their first child after three pregnancy losses in the past.
They announced the news via a touching Instagram post that saw Alexander tenderly touching Lauren’s bump as their dog watched on.
He wrote: ‘It’s been a long road, and we wanted to wait until things were looking promising this time around. Thank you guys for all of the support.
‘We couldn’t be more grateful. And if you were wondering…yam is stoked.’
He revealed that the baby is due in May this year, and added that it had been a ‘long road’ for him and his partner before talking about their experience with pregnancy loss.
He continued: ‘We suffered 3 losses before this one but each one of those losses taught us about ourselves and each other. To everyone out there who has suffered miscarriages before, there is light on the other side of your journey. You are not alone.’
