Brownie the guinea pig was crowned best in show for his thick coat and impressive head of hair at the North Canterbury Guinea Pigs show.
Brownie’s guardian, Jodie Corbett, said she was pleased to take out the top spot at the annual event.
“I feel really good,’’ she said.
“It was a surprise because there were a lot of really nice guinea pigs there today.”

The show, held in Rangiora on Sunday afternoon, attracted 76 furry entrants from across the region.
A dozen of Corbett’s 20 pedigree guinea pigs were competing at the event. She said she enjoyed getting creative when it came time to naming her guinea pigs.
There is Claude, One With White Foot, Charlotte, and Lamborghini.

“We get quite extreme with their names,’’ she said.
“They have quite long names for such small animals.”
